Named after the Christian martyr ( St. Valentine), Valentine’s day has always been celebrated every February 14th. Numerous events, roses, romantic atmospheres, poems, and cheesy words are always exchanged during this day. Unfortunately, this mainly applies to couples or anyone who has a significant other to spend the day with. It’s kind of a sad day for all the single ladies (and men), but we’re going to help change that. For those of you who are lucky to have roommates who happen to be single as well, we have the perfect activities that you can do to celebrate Valentine’s- wait no, Galentine’s in the best way possible.
Watching Movies
Dim the lights, prepare some snacks, and scroll on Netflix to find a romantic chick-flick to watch. Many have said that watching romantic movies on Valentine’s day is the perfect way to celebrate the special day without needing to have a significant other to spend it with. Some of our all-time favorites that you need to check out are: The Notebook, Titanic, Valentine’s Day, Me Before You, Love Rosie, Definitely Maybe, and many more. You can also binge-watch a romantic K-drama if you’d like. Don’t forget to order some pizza or your favorite bubble tea to accompany throughout your movie/series marathon.
Drink the Night Away
If you and your roommate are up for a party, go visit some bars or nightclubs. Usually, they hold special events on Valentine’s day and lots of discounts. Decorate your apartment with pink hearts, light up some sweet candles, and dress up a bit. Don’t feel like cooking? Order some pasta from a nearby Italian restaurant. Make it as fancy as you’d like. Don’t forget to pair your food with some wine or a creative cocktail.
Take a Day Off
Want to chill a bit after a hard week? Arrange a day for a mini-vacation together with your roommate(s). You can take a weekend trip to Bandung, go to a spa and get their most expensive treatment, or visit an amusement park. Chill and have a light drink at the nearest bar, go visit some local attractions, or you may just simply stay in your apartment and do your favorite things together. As much as you enjoy spending some time with your roommate, it is always better to still set some healthy boundaries. If you both just simply want to have some me time, let it be.

You could also consider watching an art show like watching theatres, dance plays, operas, and more! Or if you’re the type that loves music, you should definitely go to music concerts. Of course, for Galentines this is the perfect activity! Spending time shopping with your friends or even a couple could be fun! Or just go windows shopping would be enough. People do say that going to malls, looking at furniture, and clothes are a fun thing to do even though you’re not there to buy anything. But if you do decide to buy something be sure its something that you and your partner could both hold a memory to it!

Single on Valentine’s Day and ready to mingle? Do not worry! Go on some dating apps and have a double-blind date with your roommate. Who knows after today, you won’t be single? By having a double date you will minimize the awkwardness since you will have your roommate beside you to keep the conversations going. So go book a romantic restaurant and enjoy your night. But remember, relax and don’t take things too seriously. You don’t wanna mess up on your first attempt.
