Because of this, French cuisine is regarded by many in Jakarta as “fancy” food, but it really doesn’t have to be. Though some of the best French restaurants here are pricey, there are many French restaurants with affordable food and still excellent flavors. 1. PAUL Bakery & Patisserie

Paul Bakery and Patisserie is a chain of bakery/restaurants from France that operates in 29 countries, serving classic French food such as crêpes, éclairs, French omeletes, Confit and, of course, French onion soup. However, this particular chain of PAUL serves more than just French food, with American dishes such as Eggs Benedict and steak as well as Indonesian dishes like Beef Rendang. Rather than being a purely French restaurant, PAUL seems to be a French-themed international restaurant with real French pastries, but not all French dishes.

Atmosphere-wise, PAUL is super cozy with a French touch for it’s interior and it’s also well suited as an amazing place to meet friends.

Always love the restaurant ambiance. So comfy. Always popular for the sandwiches, but haven’t got the chance to eat one. Here for the chocolate croissant. Love their buttery yet crunchy croissant. & they also use dark chocolate which makes it even better. Love their croissants! Will be back for more!

2. Sophie Authentique

Sophie is a French-style café with 4 other chains around Jakarta, serving classic Parisian café food such as Croque Madame/Monsieur, French Omelettes, and freshly baked breads from Brioche Buns to Baguettes. The café also serves Italian food such as pasta and some American diner food such as burgers, steaks, and fries. Sophie is also quite affordable for the quality that it brings.

I love the smell of “pretty breakfast” in here. With a unique store behind the cafe. I love the ambiance. Foods are great. The smoking area also good with a busy street view.

3. Levant Boulangerie et Patisserie

Levant Boulangerie presents itself as more of a bakery than a restaurant, but it does have, without a doubt, a great dine-in menu. The menu also varies widely from the French Croque Madame/Monsieur and Tartines to Italian classics like Pizza and Risotto. However, the star of the show in this particular dining location is the Pâté de Campagne, served with baguette slices. Even with all this, it is without a doubt, the most affordable French food on this list.

Maybe after lunch, you could also visit some great coffee shops in Cipete. A little caffeine wouldn’t hurt!

One of the best bakeries in Jakarta. Levant is a French Bakery offering artisanal breads with outstanding flavours. Expect delicious almond croissants, tarts, sourdough, and chocolate pepites. Homey feel and consistent quality.

4. Bistro Baron

Bistro Baron is one of the most luxurious french restaurants in Jakarta. Established in 2010 by the owner of PennyRoos, Anna Bambang Sunindar, this restaurant served an indulgence of comfort and luxury with an iconic Parisian vibe. Located inside the Plaza Indonesia mall, this restaurant gives you the classic and modern French atmosphere accompanied by authentic French cuisines that will surely take you to France even if you’re not even going there.

However, the most important part of a restaurant is its menu. It serves some authentic French cuisines such as Terrine De Foie Gras which consists of brandy marinated foie gras terrine, homemade fig chutney, and toasted rustic bread. It’s one of the recommended main menus which originated directly from France. This menu also brings the classic French taste of delicacy in a duck or goose meat.

Many Jakartans love this place for its great food and exceptional service, as to how it’s originated directly from France. Quite expensive, but is a very nice place for private dining events. So, what are you waiting for? Try to give it a visit!

5. Le Quartier

Le Quartier is one of those “fancy” French restaurants mentioned at the start of this article, but it is the most comprehensively French restaurant in Jakarta. Located in Kebayoran Baru, the atmosphere is one of the best in Jakarta, and also its decor makes you feel like you’re in France. Le Quartier also features a very comfortable bar with cool chairs and a bar table. 

At the end of the day, however, the menu decides everything and the menu at Le Quartier is decidedly very French. An assortment of charcuterie, a cheese board, foie gras, and garlic butter escargot form the classic French appetizer courses in Le Quartier. They serve both the classic Croque monsieur and its very own Croque aux champignons. For dessert, Le Quartier offers lemon tarts, soufflés, and a Provençal apple tart also with an assortment of cakes and desserts made fresh. And also, don’t forget to order some red wine!

Truly one of the best traditional French restaurants in Jakarta.

Love having breakfast here, so peaceful , have natural lights coming in where we were seated. the hot chocolate is plenty thick and delicious! and another thin block of chocolate on top of that, best of the best. the whisky scrambled egg is yummy too, very generous of them to give so much cheese.

6. Avec Moi

Avec Moi restaurant and bar is another authentic French restaurant in Jakarta. The atmosphere is quite homey and very comfortable, not to mention the barstools quite roomy, making it comfortable for group gatherings or for when you just need an alcohol pick-me-up. The lighting and the furnishing, though not distinctly French, has an aesthetic touch.

But the heart of Avec Moi is on the menu, where it can show off not only French cuisine but also Italian food as well. Classic French appetizers such as red wine braised escargot and foie gras are served here alongside French mains such as duck confit, pan-roasted frog legs, and beef burgundy. Not to be left behind, the Italian side of the menu also offers an appetizer of fresh burrata and the wide assortment of pasta ranging from the simple ragù to the much simpler and yet more exquisite truffle pasta with scallops.

Although the desserts like the apple crumble or the orange souffle does not quite resemble any traditional French or Italian styles, they are very delicious and very highly recommended.

One of the best restaurants in Jakarta. quality food and affordable prices. tried the mushroom soup for starters and pork chop and sous vide chicken for mains. it was awesome. highly recommended.
