Established in 1926, Loi Ah Koon started a coffee stall business that sells coffee, tea, egg, and toast. In 1936, his wife joined this venture and worked alongside her husband. The stall was then simply called Ya Kun Coffeestall, the name ‘Ya Kun’ being the Hanyu pinyin equivalent of ‘Ah Koon’. Now, Ya Kun Kaya Toast has expanded its branches abroad, including Indonesia.
