There is nothing better than to eat Indonesian food in an authentic local atmosphere. Plataran Dharmawangsa offers you a cultural lunch experience at an old Javanese traditional house, connected with wooden patios where you can enjoy a casual dining experience.

The service is outstanding — friendly staff and fast process from ordering to paying your bills. Our all-time favorite, Ayam Dharmawangsa, is definitely one of the star dishes in this restaurant. The juicy breaded chicken served with pickled mango, pomelo as well as sweet and sour spicy sauce. There is a wide range of great dishes in this Restaurant, but to end your dining experience, we highly recommend you to order their Pisang Bakar Plataran — a simple grilled banana served with gula Melaka sauce.

Those Indonesian food lovers who are after a comprehensive dining experience should commit to visiting this restaurant whenever in town. One of our favorite dishes in Meradilema is their fresh-picked from the garden Putri Giok— sauteed mixed vegetables with mushrooms, shrimps, squid and fish ball, the perfect nostalgic reminder of grandma’s cooking.

This high-end seafood restaurant is housed inside an antique classy building with a 20th-century ambiance. The restaurant serves seafood of many kinds, marinated in authentic Indonesian recipes.

One of our favorite dishes is the steamed Sunda Kelapa Fried Pomfret— a golden deep-fried pomfret with Seribu Rasa Chef’s special sweet and sour mango sauce.  The crispy but still smooth skin and juicy meat inside dipped in a refreshing sauce really combines the best gift the ocean could give along with rich and flavorful classic Indonesian herbs. They also serve quite a few other south-east Asian cuisines such as Tom Yam Fish Pattaya from Thailand. The combination of tiger grouper fish cooked in Thai style spicy, salty and sour soup. Just like the name, Seribu Rasa does really serve 1000 tastes for its customers!

Sundanese and Javanese food are arguably one of the most popular cuisines amongst Indonesians. As you are living on the Java island, it’s almost impossible to not try the Sundanese or Javanese food —it’s served in dozens, if not hundreds, of restaurants in Jakarta. As it might be too hard to choose the best ones, we have just one in mind that definitely ranked on top.

Nusa Indah Restaurant offers authentic Sundanese and Javanese food, offered at a relatively affordable price. You can spend less than $10 for 2 people— how crazy is that! For a complete package, try to order Paket B which consists of fried chicken, soft bone milkfish, tempe, tofu, fresh vegetables, and their famous spicy sambal. Not only is it a lot, but the modest yet flavorful dish brings joy and comfort to your table. For a refreshing beverage, you can order their Es teler. The mixture of syrups, freshly cut fruits and jellies topped with shaved ice will treat your sweet tooth well.
