Mount Gede

Mount Gede is the nearest volcano mountain from Jakarta, which located between the cities of Bogor, Sukabumi, and Cianjur With its relatively short driving distance from Jakarta. This volcano is one of the most favorite weekend getaways for outdoor enthusiasts who live in Jakarta. As for those who live in Singapore, you will only need a two hours flight from Changi airport to Jakarta (Soekarno Hatta) international airport, plus an added three hours’ drive to the entry point of the national park. Mount Gede is placed within the Gede Pangrango National park. The national park itself gives various natural attractions for outdoor enthusiasts: from the beautiful rainforest, blue lake, waterfall, hot spring, the amazing crater, and alpine meadow of Suryakencana.

The volcano complex in the Gede Pangrango National Park has the twin peaks of Mount Gede and Mount Pangrango which overlook the outskirts of Jakarta and offers an accessible hike The Gede Pangrango national park is one of the oldest nature conservation in Indonesia. Starting circa 1819 when the Dutch colonial government built a botanical garden at the foot of Mount Gede.
