Like its name, Mediterania Gajah Mada Residence is a big concrete-building designed with like every other Indonesian house in the late 20th century. The apartments itself are built in some sort of a courtyard surrounded by parking areas. There are several convenience stores within the building; minimarket, ATM booths, saloon, laundry, and a couple of restaurants. There are three main entrances and exits in this building; the main gate heads towards Jl. Gajah Mada, which is arguably one of the main streets in old Jakarta's infrastructure as it links directly to Kota Tua. The neighborhood surrounding the apartment can be quite messy, especially during the rainy season. However, the apartment itself is not isolated away from entertainment and important landmarks. The towers of the compound have several outdoor spaces filled with small green landscapes and garden sets. Although it's quite nice for the eye, it is not somewhere you can sit on for hours or do exercises at; people usually just walk by these paths. The corridors of the building are quite old and dull but maintain relatively well. Throughout the building, you can find cleaning services and maintenance staff that keep this building clean and comfortable. However, as the buildings had opened for more than 19 years, it is not surprising that some parts of the buildings (i.e. doors, windows, tiles) look broken and rusty.

Mediterania Gajah Mada Residence Facilities

The facilities offered by the Mediterania Gajah Mada Residence are quite limited but still acceptable for the apartment class it belongs to. First of all, there is a pair of adults and kids swimming pools located in the outdoor area of the building. Considering the number of tenants in this apartment, the swimming pools are quite small and can be very packed during the weekends. Moreover, there is also a gym facility in the apartment. To use this facility, you need to pay Rp 200.000 per month. The machines seem to be old and some are even not functioning anymore. Most of the machines are not electric and thus limit the range of gym exercises you can do here. On the other hand, in the central area in between the towers, you can find a public area or something similar to a square where you can find stores that provide day-to-day needs; minimarket, ATM booths, canteens, laundry, restaurants, salons and many more. During the public holidays, you can see decorations and events announcements in this area.
