A love child between Stranger Things and The End of The F***ing World, the new Netflix show,  I Am Not Okay With This (IANOWT) is an angsty coming-of-age story about a girl who is trying to cope with her dad’s sudden death.  The story revolves around Sydney Novak (played by Sophi Lillis) as she navigates the confusing phase of adolescence while dealing with her father’s suicide and her one-sided crush on her best friend, not to mention her awakening telekinetic superpowers. Debate on whether Sydney is better with Stanley or Dina or have a drinking game every time Sydney loses her cool and blows stuff up, watching the series will definitely be a great experience for you and your roommates. 

4.Tidying-Up with Marie Kondo

This reality tv show has become a hit since its release in 2019 with two primetime Emmy nominations to its name. Tidying Up with Marie Kondo is an original Netflix reality TV show where we follow Marie Kondo, the best seller author of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, a book about helping others how to keep their home and workspace tidy and organized. The series offers us tips and tricks on how to declutter our rooms and bring joy in the process. 

You’ll get hooked on the stories and challenges Marie’s clients have, from those who cannot let go of their dearest’s memories to those who’s hoarding habits have become a second skin. Watching how Marie Kondo changes the lives of her clients, you and your roommate will get the urge to do the same. At least finally clean up the messy corner where the boxes are still stacked up from the first day you moved in. In no time, you both will be thinking whether having a three-year-old bean bag from the flea market ‘sparks joy’ or maybe it’s time to move on to real furniture. 

5. Mindhunter

If you and your roommates are fans of true-life crime, but a bit squeamish, the Netflix original series Mindhunter is the show for you. This is a crime-thriller TV series adapted from the book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI Elite’s Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas, a retired FBI special agent. Set in the late 70s and 80s America, the series revolves around how agent Holden Ford (played by Jonathan Groff) interviews America’s cruelest serial killers to understand how their mind works and help to solve future cases. Mindhunter is different from other crime series which uses gruesome images to shock its audience, instead, it uses dialogs and verbal tellings such as documents or letters to let the audience know what happened. This series is guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seat every time.  

6. Friends

Could it BE more iconic than Friends? The hit sitcom is a perfect choice for a fun binge-watching session with your roomies. The sitcom is the first of its kind about friendships and hardships you get in your 20s and 30s. The story revolves around six friends: Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey, and Ross in Manhattan, New York as they struggle to discover themselves and keep their career afloat. The comedy will get you on the floor with the absurd situations the characters get into from abandoning your own wedding to breaking the door of your neighbors’ apartment.
